Rugged Casual

I bought these shoes for walking longer distances but also wanted to be able to wear them with a sport coat and tie. It is a good choice. The shoes needed no breaking in. The soles are a bit heavier than what I am used to but give better support and padding than other similar shoes. The interior of the shoe is very good quality. The style is a nice compromise between a dressier style and a true walking shoe. I look forward to wearing this shoe for many years to come.

I have arthritis in my feet. These are the most comfortable, versatile shoes I have found. I originally bought them to wear for working construction but have since been wearing them for casual shoes in place of tennis shoes.

Most comfortable shoe I can find. It has a "real bottom" --- not one of those cheap removable type foam inserts, and it is very comfortable. Please be advised that Irist Setter has discontinued this excellent shoe and replaced with a cheaper made model with a cheap removable foam insert ---- made n China, of course. I managed to get five pair before this 3817 ran out. Thanks.

I must told you that this shoe is very comfort and attractive. I have a variety of casual shoes, but I have fallen in love with this Irish Settler. So far I'm very happy with the Irish Setter Comfort Utility. I purchased the shoe mainly because I have had a history of back pain and I find that as I wear my shoes down I tend to have more back discomfort. I searched back support and this is one of the shoes that came up. I need a shoe with good arch support, otherwise I add supports. With this shoe I did not have a break-in period and the support is good enough that I do not need additional inserts. The shoe is casual which I have no problem wearing to work.Overall I am very satisfied with this shoe and would consider purchasing another when the time comes.

The shoe maintains the Irish Setter quality, as I expected. It was slightly more narrow than I expected for a EE width, but still very comfortable out of the box and will probably break in to a better fit shortly. It is a little on the heavy side, but that is probably due to the solid sole and thick leather uppers. Which is what the shoe is described as, so no complaints there. I hate the extra long braided laces, though, and replaced them shortly after wearing the shoe and continually re-tying the laces. Overall, I am very happy with the shoes and expect them to last for years. A little pricey, but well worth the money.
