I can put these shoes on straight from the box and wear them all day! They need no breaking in--a first for me in any kind of shoes.The "waffle" soles are perfect for someone who has had plantar facitis, bone spurs, plantar's warts--any kind of foot problem because the soles absorb the tenderness in the foot.

I would really love to have an arch support built into the shoe. I have plantar fasciitis and it is the only shoe I can walk in that makes my heel feel better but the arch would help so much more. Putting an orthotic in it defeats its purpose.

These shoes are so comfy I put them on and wore them all day first time. I have wide feet so I needed extra wide - these are the first I found that really fit.

This is my second pair of San Mateo's. First I purchased the red ones and love them. This time I got the brown (walnut) woven ones. The fit is great and as with most SoftWalk are very comfortable. I wear a width width and finding stylish flats is sometimes a challenge but these are great.
